The truth is, the following safety suggestions would be helpful for whenever we are going, shopping. However, during the holidays, it seems as though we are forgetful of these tips, or, because of the season, we are more trusting of others, or, it may be a simple matter of increased in criminal activities.
Well, whatever the reasons may be, staying safe during this time is the best way to go and the following will be helpful in this area.
Wary Of Strangers
Christmas time is said to be a time of miracles and with this, comes the thought that the season could change even the most cold-hearted, into a kind and generous person, even if it is just for a short time.
With this though, as we go about purchasing gifts and foods for loved ones and if we are struggling, as we make our way home with these items, we may be all to happy to accept the help of a smiling stranger who is offering to help.
Well, have you ever heard of the story of the twenty two-year-old young adult, who had just purchased an Xbox 360 as a gift for her brother, who was returning home from the hospital, after being in a car accident?
As she made her way to the car, her arms were loaded with other packages as well and as she walked, a nineteen year old guy went running up to her. He offered to help, since he was also going to the parking lot as well. So, she accepted his offer and handed him the package with the Xbox and, before she knew it, he was running away with her item. Therefore, be very wary of strangers.
Don’t Leave Things In Vehicle
Most often than not, during this time, we would be going from store to store and as we do that, the last thing that is on our minds is taking all of our shopping bags into another store with us. We would be more inclined to leave them in our vehicle.
Therefore, as we do that, instead of leaving them in or under the seats or even on the floor of the vehicle, it is best to place them in the trunk.
However, sometimes, for one reason or another, we would still leave things in the seats and when we are tempted to do that, taking a few seconds to push it under the seat and out of the sight of prowlers, would be the better option here. Nevertheless, the trunk is the best way to go.
Limited and Small Cash
If we can avoid walking with cash at this time, it is best to do so. Not only could we lose our purse/wallet, but if we are carrying a large sum of cash, we could also drop some of it, as we make a payment.
Additionally, if we choose to walk with some, it would be best to walk with them in small denominations such as five and ten dollars. This way, we do not have much to lose.
